I really couldn’t believe that they remade Nodame Cantabile in Korea.
Nodame Cantabile is one of my most favourite Manga series, Anime and live action drama. Live-action Chiaki (Tamaki Hiroshi) and Nodame (Ueno Juri) have been a great pair in my eyes and many of their fans would agree. Why did they remake such a famous drama with Joo Won and Sim Eun Kyeong. Eun Kyeong has tried a lot to act like Nodame (still I can’t compare her with Ueno Juri) but Joo Won, who is a actor for more serious genre, is definitely a wrong choice in the place of Tamaki Hiroshi in this drama.
Also, the first episode failed to impress me due to the missing funny elements like, the funny Mongoose that comes in the title song, wrong choice of the actor for Mine-the concert master of S Orchestra, last but the most important, where is the music? Isn’t ‘Cantabile’ a word that represents the music that accompany the male, female lead and us throughout the drama. Mozart’s piano sonata for 2 pianos played in this drama failed to impress me in the first episode.
Would I stop watching this drama? No.
I love the manga storyline so much that I have read the Manga more than 5 times, watched the anime many times, watched the live-action ‘n’ number of times so I would probably continue to watch this drama as well even though it is a remake.

It’s normal to have adopted story lines but it is too overwhelming for me to finish watching one Hotel drama and start another hotel drama immediately (where both dramas seem to share the same kind of mood) with both the dramas having cute couples in the lead roles. Finished Hotel King and started watching My secret hotel drama now…
My Secret Hotel
All that he wanted was to make her the happiest Queen in the World but what can he do being a King with Zero power and 187 IQ level. Lee Seung Gi has tried his best in this drama, the kid has shown that he can also act apart from singing. His smiles, style and gestures throughout the series are just enough to make this an entertaining drama. A very good political black comedy with Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi playing their best as North and South Korean respectively that too Lee Seung Gi as the South Korean King.
Lee Seung Gi’s acting in his other dramas are not so satisfying and so I didn’t have much expectations when I started to watch this one and I was hoping how Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi could make a perfect pair in a romantic drama when she is so much senior to him but I should say that Lee Seung Gi has really done a good job in this by improving his acting and his facial expressions and as always his good looks has helped him as a modern day King in South Korea. The Villain is kind of irritating but I guess that it was characterised that way so that the King and the ‘to be’ Queen will get more focus from the audience.
How annoying it would be to handle such a psychic villain, why don’t they have any good or better plan to handle that guy. Who will know if they kidnap the villain and torture him like what he does to the others in the drama. Why no one thought about capturing him silently when he enters the palace. Well that is why the drama got extended to 20 episodes. It is not boring but at one point I felt that it is too much that the King don’t have any good advisors to handle this annoying villain.
It may not be one of the best dramas of 2012 but it is definitely a must watch for the kid’s acting and romance and yes for all the political show that they have shown.
If you have not watched this drama, then you are missing some real cute entertainment… If I say that it is worth watching for Jang Keun Suk’s acting then it is not because I am a fan and so am recommending this drama but it is true that he has put in some real hard work trying to make all the 20 episodes of the drama to be interesting. Yoona has also done a great job trying to look very cute and she has really competed with JKS in all the scenes.
In a drama with emotional storyline where the same lead actors have to portray the characters from different time period, it is essential that they should understand that the episodes will be really predictable and every scene will be easily judged by the audience. I think they have understood this and have put a great effort to make every episode of the drama to be fresh and admirable.
Let’s not compare this drama with the movie ‘The Classic’ (2003) though it is true that the storyline is the same as the movie with only small changes. One reason why I didn’t like the movie was, it was very slow and the actors, be it Son Ye Jin or Jo Seung Woo didn’t perform so very well compared to the lead actors in the drama. Still I will accept that the drama team had a sample in front of them and they tried to polish the lead characters and for the lead actors too, they had a chance to see what is bad in the movie and what could be done to make it more interesting to get an emotional feel…
The locations, cinematography and the OST would really make us incline towards the drama despite of the known storyline… The lead actors costumes and make overs should also be mentioned here… I think JKS is the only guy in the world who could look cute in eye liners, crazy hairstyles and costumes… Yoona is also like a real doll and I am sure any guy would fall for a cute girl like her…
I felt that even though Boys over Flowers had the real flower boys of Korea in the cast listing, it did miss something in the drama which made me yawn and skip some scenes(I won’t say that I didn’t skip any scenes in Love Rain) and I can never accept it as a romantic drama but can categorize it as a ‘Flower boys’ drama but Love Rain is truly romantic so watch it without expecting much because the first few episodes might be really boring if you are new to Korean dramas and to Korean culture but still those episodes are the most important for us to enjoy the later episodes.
If you want to watch a romantic love story then be ready to get completely drenched in this Love Rain…
I would give a high rating for this drama. It is a never ending funny love story… I can always remember this drama because I found out how good Jang Geun Suk can perform as an actor… I was totally impressed with JKS as an actor after watching Beethoven Virus, You’re beautiful and this drama… How can he bring so much expressions in such a small face…
